Caravan park 'will boost local economy'

The development of a new holiday park near Carnforth, Lancashire will provide a boost for the local economy, it has been claimed.

According to thevisitor.co.uk, the project is valued at around £4 million and will create 20 local jobs. It will be built on land already used to house two holiday parks near Bolton-le-Sands, and will cater for 120 luxury caravan holiday homes and provide for a further 200 touring caravans, motorhomes and tents.

The project is being backed by Cumbria-based businessman Michael Holgate's family firm, and he believes that it will have a positive impact on the local community.

"It's a fantastically exciting project, and one which I hope will bring a lot of benefits to the area," he told thevisitor.co.uk.

"We've long thought that this area warranted a holiday park which would be in keeping with the quality of the natural environment.

"Our aim is to make absolutely everything of a five-star standard, and to attract discerning holidaymakers who will provide a real boost to the local economy."

The family is hoping that planning permission will be granted to allow them to start merging the two parks and building facilities for future caravanners and campers.

New roadways and reception buildings are also planned.
