Caravan holidays can be a cheap summer break
Taking a caravan holiday could be a good way to beat the credit crunch this summer.
While increased bills and food prices restrict consumer spending, caravans could be a great way for holidaymakers to enjoy a well earned break and with a ten per cent rise in pitch bookings, it appears some are already doing so.
The Caravan Club has seen a ten per cent rise in bookings this year and while the credit crunch is helping bookings, the freedom of a caravan holiday could also be important.
"People appreciate the freedom and flexibility that caravanning offers," a spokesperson for the organisation said.
Some holidaymakers may be wary of taking a caravan holiday after last year's flooding problems, but the Caravan Club said it should pose little problem if holidaymakers keep informed of weather conditions.
According to statistics from the National Caravan Council, there are about 500,000 touring caravans in use in the UK with 2,000 parks across Britain.
As well as checking weather conditions in their location caravan owners would also be advised to take out the appropriate caravan insurance.
