Caravan Site and Farm make almost £2 million at auction
An auction conducted by Robin Jessop held on July 2nd which included the Church Farm and caravan site - part of the national park area of Swainby, North Yorkshire, was sold for £1,950,000.
The farm and surrounding buildings, and the adjoining caravan park, were sold in separate lots. Lot two encompassed the 60 static caravans, planning permission to reinstate an access road and an additional 3.58 acres.
Prior to the auction, Mr Jessop told the Darlington and Stockton Times: "Caravan sites rarely come up on the open market.
"And if they do they are rarely sold by public auction. This is particularly unique because it was established well before the Second World War and in the national park where you would have great difficulty getting permission for a caravan park now. In my 25 years as an auctioneer I have never sold another caravan park."
The farmhouse had been empty since 2005.
