Caravan Club 'not affected by avian flu'
The Caravan Club says that the protection zone for the recent avian flu outbreak does not include any of its sites.
The Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) confirmed that a second outbreak of H5N1 avian flu had been found at a turkey farm on the Norfolk and Suffolk border earlier this month.
Motorists should be aware that movements are restricted within the area, however.
The Caravan Club said: "We would reassure members that whilst their health is our utmost concern, we do not believe there is any reason for them to stay away from areas where there are wild or farm birds, or to change their holiday arrangements."
Defra has also confirmed that avian flu is rarely passed to humans, and that people who had become ill had come into very close contact with birds and their faeces.
