Camping holidays on increase
More people are choosing to holiday under canvas, according to figures released by the Camping and Caravanning Club.
The club is also finding that its membership includes many more families seeking a greener holiday experience enjoying the countryside rather than air travel.
Matthew Eastlake, marketing and communications director for the Camping and Caravanning club, observes: "The club is finding that the trend towards taking UK holidays under canvas is on the increase more so now than for many years.
"It's about the freedom to have an adventure without the hassles of planning months in advance."
AMG Group spokesman Alastair Moodie agrees. He says: "Our market research clearly shows whilst the indifferent weather, this summer, has dented the consumers confidence, camping in the outdoors is on the increase."
Caravanners and campers are calculated to spend in excess of £32 million each year.
