Bringing the art to the people
A German exchange student, studying at Gray's School of Art at the
Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, is using a caravan to display her
artwork, and to travel to towns in Scotland in order for more people to
see it.
It was whilst she was trying to find a hall to display her exhibition
that she came across the caravan.
Andrea Elsper explained to the local newspaper, the Press and Journal:
"I was racking my brains for the right venue when I came across a
battered old caravan in someone's front garden and I knew that was where
I wanted to exhibit.
"It is flexible, inspiring and moveable and when I explained the
situation to the lady who owned it she very kindly gave it to me for
free.
"The caravan used to transport people to their destination wherever that
may have been and now it has become a piece of art, and therefore the
destination itself, wherever it goes."
The exhibition opens at Grays school, in Garthdee, this weekend.
