Caravan Insurance News: 80 caravan residents may loose their home
Posted on January 27th 2010
Residents in Aberystwyth Holiday Village could be forced from their homes after the council discovered the site was harbouring 44 more permanent caravans than their licence permitted. The council had discovered the breach of licence in 2007, since then the caravan park has applied for the correct planning permission. If this is denied then around 80 residents will be made homeless.
Although the council admits awareness of the breach 3 years ago, Adrian Ballard, one of the sites managers claims the council has known since the original planning permission was granted back in 1987.
He said: "The council has been happy to take council tax off these residents all these years and now suddenly they have changed their minds and requested a planning application to be submitted to retain what has been happening for well over 23 years."
Since this recent dispute Mr Ballard has called an emergency meeting with the council after making them aware of "great concern and distress to all our residents".
